Today, those other three activists were rescued by members of our military and the British military. Notice that I and even the New York Times used the word "rescued" when describing how these three numbskulls came to be freed from their captors. The organization from which they were affiliated, the Christian Peacemaker Teams, had a different take on how this happened when they posted an announcement about it on their website. Here is how CPT described it:
Our hearts are filled with joy today as we heard that Harmeet Singh Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember have been safely released in Baghdad. Christian Peacemaker Teams rejoices with their families and friends at the expectation of their return to their loved ones and community. Together we have endured uncertainty, hope, fear, grief and now joy during the four months since they were abducted in Baghdad.Did you catch that? "...have been safely released"? Good God, they make it sound as if the kidnappers had a change of heart and just let the three men go.
Well, I couldn't let this one go. I sent off a quick email to CPT, and here it is:
If any of you out there wish to call on the carpet, these so-called Christians who hate our military and seem to have no problem with the Muslim throat-cutters. Please, by all means contact them like I did at their website: www.cpt.org.Subject: You Left Something Out

I thank God for the safe return of your activists, misguided as their presence in Iraq was.
The statement on your homepage reads: "Our hearts are filled with joy today as we heard that Harmeet Singh Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember have been safely released in Baghdad."
I just read a New York Times article that was headlined, "3 Western Aid Workers in Iraq Rescued in Military Operation" (my emphasis).
When you say "released", you make it sound like the terrorists let your people go out of the goodness of their black hearts. Would it kill you to give just the slightest amount of credit to the military members - that you so malign - who risked their lives to save your people?
What I find ironic is that you are happy your people were "released", even though the methods used to secure that "release" were the potentially violent methods that the military use that you claim to abhor.
I think that to stay true to your principles, you should tell Mssrs. Sooden, Loney, and Kember to march right back to their captors and demand that they be retaken as hostages, so that the circumstances of their "release" are not in conflict with your stated goals and beliefs.
Otherwise, it would only be the Christian thing to do that you properly recognize on your homepage statement, the role that the military played in the RESCUE of your people.
God Bless,
Chanman
Good Day to You, Sir
