Stop butchering our National Anthem!

In fact, gimme that microphone!

Hey, your mother would be proud, in fact, she is!

Bravo! Your singing is just fine, thank you!
I agree 100% with everything you said. "It's not about you"--it seems that is what the gen x, or gen y, or Millenials don't get. To them, everything IS about them. Didn't their parents and teachers tell them that all their lives? I began teaching in 1971, took time out for a while to parent my daughter, and returned to full-tiime teaching in 2000. What a shock that all kids think all of their work is an A. "I worked hard on it, so I deserve an A." (Working hard to them is spending more than 10 minutes doing it.)
Parents are just as bad. Whining and crying and going over the teacher's head to try to get grade changed.
Our Founding Fathers, our brave servicemen and women, our Greatest Generation who grew up in the Depression and still went on to fight and die for freedom in WWII, and the continuing service and sacrifice made in battle around the world--they showed with their lives that it was not about them, but about preserving our freedom gained at great cost.
Your blog is one of my daily must-reads because of your insight, humor, and your ability to cut through the verbiage out there and tell it like it is.
