Shocked I tell you: Howard Zinn was a communist

Few things have irritated me more than the few insufferable times I have had to converse with a Howard Zinn devotee. I have sat there and been regaled with stories of how wonderful and pure the late so-called historian was, and how his magnum opus, A People's History of the United States, changed the person's outlook on life - blah, blah, blah.

Not that I am at all surprised, but it is now official that Howard Zinn wasn't just trying to heavy-handedly (and often incorrectly) point out our nation's foibles. He was trying to bring our nation down.

Howard Zinn's FBI file has been made public after a FOIA request was made, and it turns out that Zinn was a member of the Communist Party USA, which was funded and controlled by the Soviet government in Moscow. Not only was he a devoted member who attended meetings up to five times a week, but he was a devoted member at a time when it was very well known that the communists in Europe and China had exterminated millions of people simply for not wanting to live under communism. And Howard Zinn supported these bloodthirsty monsters.

I watched much of that piece-of-crap History Channel special, The People Speak, and I don't ever remember being informed about this part of Howard Zinn's background anytime during the show. It must have slipped their minds.

I know of so many teachers who just adore A People's History of the United States. If they continue to use or recommend that book in their classroom, then shame on them.

Oh come on man grow up. So what that he was a member of the communist party, like that really means anything. Maybe he was just curious. I mean, who are you to judge anyone anyway. And the government just didn't like what he published so they started following him around.

As far as I'm concerned the McCarthy era was the worst era of our history ever, with all those people losing their jobs and being forced to confess their affiliation with the so called communist party. Do you know how many people in Hollywood lost their jobs? So sad. Our government can be so mean.

So he sold over one million copies of his book, and it has been in practically every school in America, like that had any influence on young people. History had gotten boring anyway, always about Washington, Jefferson, and that stupid constitution. I always felt like such a loser in class because I could never live up to our so called heroes. Now that we teach history from the bottom up I feel good about myself.

I don't see anything wrong with a communist in our country. After all, he was brave and stood up against the government's war in Vietnam. I admire him for that. Zinn lived his beleif that "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.”

Americans. We think we are so great and civilized, have you read this yet: http://bostonreview.net/BR30.3/zinn.php.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Did you know that Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters are crooked politicians? Imagine that.
