And the Oscar for most tepid applause of the evening goes to...

the segment during last night's Academy Awards where some U.S. soldiers and marines stationed in Baghdad announced the nominees and the winner of the Oscar for best documentary. It started out with Tom Hanks coming out on stage and introducing the service members, who were projected on a huge screen behind him. When Tom Hanks handed the duties over to the members of our military on the screen, you should have heard the crickets chirping in the audience, along with a smattering of lukewarm applause.

But don't question their patriotism!

So, in the end, these Hollywood lefties and all the other lefties out there can utter the tired old mantra of hating the war but supporting the troops all they want. Last night was a clear example of just how exactly the lefties feel about those troops who they claim to support. I'm just glad there was an audience running in the hundreds of millions who had the opportunity to witness this unpatriotic display on live television!

Good Day to You, Sir

Oh, you watch that stuff?

I probably see 4 movies a year in theaters, not enough to merit the drudgery of watching my betters stumble over themselves to praise themselves.

I haven't watched the Oscars in years. I think the last time was when my Mom used to watch it when I was a kid. They're just too good for my low rent ways. I admire your discipline in staying with these jerks.

Hey, Don't question their patriotism!

I haven't watched the Oscars in years because I've never heard of 99% of the movies up for awards. I prefer to watch good movies instead of arthouse crap.

I missed that part, of course I was busy getting my kids to bed, and doing homework for my three college classes...

I would love to watch the Oscars, but bloody Rupert Murdoch moved it to a channel I dont get. Well, probably Rupes himself didnt actually do it himself, but his minions did. Bah!
However, it was an awesome year for film, pretty much any of the Best Picture, Best Actor/Best Actress nominees would have won in any other year. Unless they were up against some god-awful tripe like Titanic of course.
